November 2021 Student of the Month: Dana

When did you start your pole journey with classes at Pole Pressure?

I tried pole a few times when I was living in Seattle, but didn't really get into it until I moved to DC. I started getting really into it towards the end of 2019 and started hitting my flow right before the pandemic!

Why did you decide to try pole dancing at Pole Pressure?

My friend at work (who first introduced me to pole in Seattle) was a member at Pole Pressure and she convinced me and a guy from the office to take a beginner class with her and I was hooked. She does pole in Hawaii now and I'm still always inspired by her posts.

What do you love most about classes at Pole Pressure?

I love the encouragement and energy of everyone in the classes, especially the instructors! This studio fosters the most incredibly positive and supportive atmosphere, it has helped me become more comfortable not only in my own skin but also just a new level of confidence in life that I appreciate more than anything else. I also have been LOVING aerial along with pole now!

Why do you love Pole Pressure?

It's a place to feel safe being you. It's a place where we all appreciate and cheer for one another. It's a place where you can surprise yourself.

What are some of your goals for this year?

The splits. This is my year. It's happening. I'm determined to achieve this finally! Any tips are welcome!

If you could train with any of your pole idols, who would it be and why?

Sammy Picone (@sammypicone) she's a goddess... I'm convinced she's not a real human. Not possible.

What motivates you to train?

I just love how beautiful pole makes me feel (sometimes... sometimes I just feel ridiculous, but that's half the fun of it also!). Just being able to move is so necessary after long days back in the office. It's what I look forward to in my week! It's gotten me through so many stressful days.
